The definition of the term “demigirl”
A demigirl (also called a demiwoman or a demifemale person) is a gender identity describing someone who partially, but not wholly, identifies as a woman, girl or otherwise feminine, whatever their assigned gender at birth. They may or may not identify as another gender in addition to feeling partially a girl or woman.
Who are demigirls?
Demigirl can be used to describe someone assigned female at birth (afab) who feels barely connected or disconnected to that identification, but usually, does not experience a significant enough dissociation to create real physical discomfort or dysphoria. Demigirl can also describe someone assigned male at birth (amab) who is transfeminine but not wholly binary-identified, so that they feel more strongly associated with "female" than "male," socially or physically, but not strongly enough to want to identify as a woman. Demigirls may also identify as demigender, non-binary and/or transgender. (I'll explain this next!)
So demigirls are non-binary?
Demigirls do fall under the non-binary umbrella! So yes, demigirl is by extension, a non-binary identity.
Some demigirls will identify themselves as transgender, which is also valid and does encompass the demigirl non-binary identity. Not all transgender individuals identify as either male or female. The term transgender can also include non-binary identities.

Pronouns don't always dictate gender; especially when it comes to non-binary identities. Demigirls may feel comfortable using she/her pronouns, they/them pronouns, he/him pronouns or neopronouns! This is entirely dependent on the individual and what they feel comfortable with.
There have been many flags made to represent demigirls! These are alternative flags!
Here are some other flags that are more specific to various identities!
I still don't get it!
That's okay! You don't have to get it to respect it! Gender identities can be confusing to individuals who are more or less used to a gender binary. However, if you'd like to learn more about demigirls, you can click the following links below!
